Aaron Meyerson is the Chief Innovation Economy Officer and Director of Broadband for the City of Newark. He works with Invest Newark and the Newark Alliance to progress broadband and innovation work citywide.
In this role, he supports the Newark Fiber initiative to bring broadband to all Newark residents, along with attracting, retaining, and expanding high-growth businesses in Newark. Prior to joining Invest Newark and the Newark Alliance, Aaron served as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer for Broadband for the City of New York. He led the implementation of New York City’s Internet Master Plan, a $157M program to build publicly owned, privately run broadband, increase competition, and leverage City real estate to bridge the digital divide. Aaron also managed New York City’s digital equity and inclusion work along with the City’s broadband data analysis and mapping team. Previously, Meyerson served as founding employee and Senior Director of Operations for WiredScore, a venture backed global broadband and real estate technology company. He led WiredScore’s expansion from NYC to the entire United States, United Kingdom and Canada.
Prior to WiredScore, Aaron served as Assistant Vice President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation’s Strategic Planning team, leading broadband, resiliency, and economic development initiatives, including serving on Mayor Bloomberg’s Special Initiative for Resiliency and Rebuilding after Hurricane Sandy. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Syracuse University, and a master’s degree in Urban Planning from New York University.
