NEWARK – A significant boost in public safety and overall quality of life is sweeping through Newark’s North Ward, thanks to a collaborative effort by its two Business Improvement Districts (BIDs): the Bloomfield Avenue/Lower Broadway Alliance (BALBA) and the Mt. Prospect Partnership (MPP).
The two organizations are teaming up to provide more policing to support businesses and make the area safer for customers, employees, and residents.
This expanded public safety effort is being funded through the New Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ), the state program that allows eligible businesses to charge a reduced sales tax and reinvests a portion of those funds back into designated UEZ communities like Newark, Jersey City, and Elizabeth.
