Baez is the Senior Vice President, Land Bank Operations for Invest Newark and in this role is responsible for managing the first and only Land Bank in the state of New Jersey. Under her leadership, the Land Bank has successfully overseen over 50 closings and implemented a comprehensive homebuyer educational program. Baez is a firm believer in the potential of Land Banks to transform vacant eyesores into beautiful, positive, and pride-inspiring assets within communities.
A native of the Dominican Republic and Newark resident, Baez earned her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The City College of New York and her master’s in public administration from Rutgers University Newark. Baez is also a fellow of Leadership Newark, the City’s prestigious public policy fellowship program, where she learned and demonstrated her exceptional talent for streamlining complex processes.
In her previous role as a Housing Development Analyst with the City of Newark, Baez made a significant impact on the City by revolutionizing its property disposition process. Her innovative solutions-based approach to problems and outstanding performance caught the attention of city leaders resulting in the offer of her current role of Senior Vice President of Land Bank Operations at Invest Newark.
